by Mike Oswald Recently we had the opportunity to provide several branded products for a weekend-long young boys camp!  They enjoyed lots of time outside and heard some dynamic speeches. What makes something memorable? The people, the place, and the merch!  Embroidered patches to add to their growing collection along with an embroidered Flat Bill Snapback hat (super cool) finished with a matching T-shirt. Making this all coordinate was great fun especially as the camp director, Allan and I started from some very basic designs that over a couple of months took shape to what you see below. “Where’s your mouthguard?” “Where are your shin guards?” “Where are your goggles?” These are questions I got asked almost every single practice for eight years. I played both soccer and basketball in high school and lacrosse in college. It was great. What was not great was having to wear all that protective gear. Whether it was shin guards for soccer, a mouth guard for basketball or goggles for lacrosse. I hated it. They were required for games so I avoided wearing them in practices whenever I could. My coaches did not love it but they usually let me get away with it. My sophomore year of high school, I made the girls’ varsity basketball team. This was a huge deal to me at the time because it was my dream to play basketball in college (I’m 5’2” so that dream did not last long, unfortunately). My coach was this goofy guy who could drop the best one-liners but also had no problem making us run suicides for 30 minutes straight. One of his friends who played in the NBA would come to a few practices a week and we loved watching him drain half-court shot after half-court shot like they were free throws. Practices were HARD but it was worth it - we were good (more like “they” because the only thing I was good at was riding the bench). Our team went undefeated for the first six games or so. 3x5”. The size of an index card. Which I know because I love index cards. They were my best friend in high school and in college. I was a big fan of using flashcards to study. I was an even bigger fan of those rare occasions when a teacher would tell the class they could use an index card on the test. An index card, a small 3x5” piece of paper. The nature of this was you could have as much or as little on the index card as you wanted. It all depended on how small you could make your handwriting. I remember one time a kid in my class brought a magnifying glass to the exam with him. That’s how small he made his handwriting on his index card. He needed a magnifying glass to read it. “No More Waiting” When I was in college, if there was one thing that drove me absolutely INSANE is was slow walkers. I would not even consider myself a fast power walker and yet somehow I often found myself stuck behind people who seemed to be moving at a sloth-like pace.
